The Benefits Of A Home Heat Pump System You Don’t Know
A heat pump will provide you with energy efficient heat all through winter, and come summer will cool your home effectively.
If you suffer from asthma, a heat pump can help by reducing the relative humidity of the room, and filtering out dust particles and other allergens by trapping them inside the air filters. Reducing the humidity makes it easier to breathe and also makes the room feel less ‘stuffy’.
Heat pumps are also child friendly as there are no open flames or hot heating elements. Most heat pumps are mounted high on the wall or hidden away so the prying little fingers of children cannot get inside.
Most air conditioners today are ‘split type’ inverter heat pumps. A ‘split type’ air conditioner basically means you have an indoor and and outdoor unit with pipework connecting the two. An inverter heat pump means that the compressor speed is varied by the use of a DC inverter and speed drive. This enables the compressor to slow down in speed to maintain a constant temperature rather than cycling between full capacity and switching off every 10 to 15 minutes. Always opt for the inverter type heat pump as it will save you money on energy.
An electric heater converts electricity into heat, whereas a heat pump simply transfers heat from one source to another. This means that you can have heating or cooling by moving heat into or out of your room. It also means that heat pumps are very energy efficient as they can transfer up to 4kW of heat into your home for every 1kW of power used. Compare that to an electric heater that only generates 1kW of heat for every 1kW of power used.
Benefits of installing Ground source heat pump:
The efficiency: The efficiency of ground source heat pump is much greater than any other heating system. This lets you enjoy the best of heating benefits at much lesser the cost.
Cost and savings: Any ground source heat pump of 8-12k.w. will cost you anywhere between £6,000-£12,000.
A ground source heat pump obtains heat from water present in pipe that meets the ground that can thereafter be easily circulated via heating system.
The average temperature existing below ground is somewhere between 8 degree and 13 degree Celsius. The whole process tends to cool the fluid. However, it can also be re-circulated back via the ground. The ground will help the system to absorb more amount of heat prior to being passed via the heat pump the second time.
Heat pumps are not actually capable of generating electricity. However, they are highly capable of generating heat and can easily be operated in reverse pattern to provide cooling effect. The pumps require some amount of electricity to operate. However, the ground source heat pumps are quite energy efficient and can easily produce heat energy up to five times for each electrical energy unit.
Ground Source Heat Pump ? Superb Benefits Your Home Can Enjoy
Ground source heat pumps are very beneficial for home. These utilize loop buried in the ground. This loop is great for transferring heat from the ground into any building in order to provide heating space. In certain cases, a these heat pumps can also be used to pre heat domestic water.
One can enjoy many benefits via installing a ground source heat pump at home. However, prior to discussing the benefits, it would be a great idea to know some important things prior to considering one of these heat pumps.
The type: You need to keep in mind the specific type of heat distribution system you want to go for. The ground source heat pump can be easily combined with radiators. However, the best thing to consider would be under floor heating. One of the main reasons for this is that it works really well at a lower temperature.
Availability: You need to know exactly whether some space is available at your home for a borehole or trench in order to allow in a ground loop.
The ground quality: Analyze thoroughly whether the ground is apt for digging borehole or a trench.
The fuel: You also need to know what fuel is being replaced. In case, it is oil, electricity, LPG, or some fuel fossil, you can enjoy good payback. Heat pumps are a superb option for places where no gas is available.
Back-up system: You must be aware of whether you require some kind of back up heating system when installing ground source heat pump.
Cooling requirement: This is one of the most important things. Make sure you know exactly whether you require a cooling agent.
Cost reduction: In case, the ground source heat pump system is for a new building development, you can benefit a lot. There is a huge cost reduction when you combine the installation with many other building works.

Benefits of ground Source Heat Pump
Even in states without great geothermal resources, a geothermal heat pump can still provide space heating and air conditioning. Like a refrigerator or air conditioner, these systems use a heat pump to force the transfer of heat from the ground to the application. In theory, heat can be extracted from any source, no matter how cold, but a warmer source allows higher efficiency. A ground-source heat pump uses the shallow ground (typically at 10-12°C, 50-54°F) as a source of heat, thus taking advantage of its seasonally moderate temperatures. In contrast, an air-source heat pump draws heat from the colder outside air and thus requires more energy.
Geothermal heat pumps are similar to usual heat pumps, but use the ground instead of outside air to provide heating, air conditioning and, in most cases, hot water. Because they use the earth’s natural heat, they are among the most efficient and comfortable heating and cooling technologies currently available.
The heat pump system uses solar energy stored in the earths crust. Energy is transferred to and from the earths surface by solar radiation, wind and rainfall. As a consequence of this solar energy, the earths temperature at depths greater than 10 meters remains constant, and is comparable to the annual average air temperature. Between the surface and a depth of 2.5 meters (maximum depth for a horizontal loop) the ground temperature will swing above and below the annual average air temperature , depending on the geographic location, soil type an moisture levels.
Benefits
Ground Source Heat Pumps or geothermal Heat pumps offer great benefits:
Simultaneously heat & cool different parts of the same building Very quiet–users do not know when the system is operating Can be set up in multiple zones, with each zone having an individual room control Greater freedoms in building design due to 50-80% less mechanical room space No outside equipment to hide, eliminating vandalism and roof top units Pipes have 50-year life expectancy all electric, which eliminates multiple utility services Expel boiler and chiller maintenance

Benefits Of Green Energy Sources
Fortunately, we can change our ways and then shift our attention to green energy sources. But why green energy sources?
Well because there are lots of advantages to using them, which we will never be able to get if we don’t change our ways. This is also even if some will argue that the problem with green energy is that it is sometimes difficult to generate the power we need. While that may be true, that is why there are other green energy sources available and we just to know which ones are viable given the geographic location.
There are various green energy sources such as:
solar, wind, wave, hydropower and geothermal
These energy sources do not produce anything harmful which may have a negative effect on the environment. This is the exact opposite of what you get when you continue to operate a coal or nuclear power plant.
Coal: you have to remember releases carbon dioxide into the air. On its own, it may not cause that much damage but there are currently 50,000 coal plants around the world and that number is expected to grow.
Nuclear plants may not release anything harmful into the air. The issue is how we dispose of the spend rods and if another nuclear accident should occur. We remember Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. We have probably learned better ways to prevent another incident from happening. Through the years, a few minor accidents have occurred and although the leak was contained, just imagine if it wasn’t?
Green energy sources may not be maintenance free, but at least it does not require that much to maintain them compared to conventional means. In the end, we save money because such facilities don’t cost that much to operate.
The next advantage of using green energy sources is that we will never run out of them. For centuries, the sun’s rays have reached so has the wind which is blown from the sea. By using it, we decrease our dependence on oil which is a nonrenewable resource.
If you think about it, many of us have taken these green energy sources for granted. If we do the right thing now, future generations will not have to face the mess that we could have handled on our own years before.
In short, the power is in our hands. We now have the technology and we know what to do with it. The only thing we need is to do is to put our money where our mouth is because despite the number of conferences on global warming and climate change, little has happened.
It is easy to talk about how concerned we are about the environment but you have to ask yourself when will more solar panels or wind turbines will be erected? When will the number of coal or nuclear power plants be reduced?
Green energy sources is the solution to the environmental, political and social problems of this lifetime.
By spending more on these green technologies, no country will have to depend on another or even a corporation for their power needs because they are self dependent and free. Feel free to visit our website, you’ll find more articles about green energy sources
7 Types of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine – Benefits Available!
You may already be familiar with wind turbines, but did you that are actually two types: Vertical and Horizontal. They each perform differnt functions, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. To decide which one is the best for you, look at your needs. Both share the same common factor as they produce energy by using the wind, except that they do it differently. The main rotor shaft in a Vertical Axis Turbine runs vertically rather than horizontally, hence the name. There are of course advantages and disadvantages for it being in this direction. One of the best advantages is that the gearbox can be placed at the bottom of the turbine, which is not possible in a horizontal turbine, so the top of the tower does not carry all the weight.
Another advantage of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines is that it does not have to face in the wind’s direction. The disadvantage is that it produces smaller amounts of energy than a horizontal turbine, and if the turbine is running in the same direction that the wind is blowing you can get pulsating torques through each turn of the turbine.
Types of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines
1. The newest type of turbine out at the moment is a windmill which has a rotation sail. When it is in operation the sails look like those you find on a ship, that expand or contract according to the change of winds. Each has three sails where the speed is controlled by a magnetic counter which expands or contracts the sails as needed. To minimise the damage to the sails there is a control unit for this purpose. The sails can tear during a large storm but the frame is very durable.
2. There are aerodynamic turbines with blades just like a plane made of airfoil base in order to capture the wind’s energy. They are so designed to catch this artificial current of kinetic energy to the centre. A very effective wind turbine it runs at full capacity most of the time to utilise all the wind energy by redirecting and lifting it upwards to the turbines there. It not only responds to the wind but also free flowing water systems such as creeks, rivers, streams and oceans.
3. Darrieus Wind Turbines are known to be efficient but they are big machines for their shape and size. Because a lot of cyclic stress that is put on the tower it does tend to wear out sooner. It consists of three blades which are shaped like loops which connect to the top and bottom of the axle, and often called the “eggbeater windmill” because that is what it resembles. They are connected from the ground upwards by large external structures which hold it up.
4. The Giromill consists of three vertical blades and was based on the patent of the Darrieus design. It is very low on maintenance as it self starting. The blades of strong, light material which are more robust to cope with the stresses placed upon them. They require less blade speed to channel energy with each turn of the blades as they are very high performing.
5. Savonius Wind Turbine mills usually consist of two scoops which convert windpower into torque on a rotating shaft. There also some which are self starting and feature three scoops. They are quite similar looking to helicopter blades except they are bent in a certain style and shape to provide enough energy to be of use.
6. The blades of Windstar Turbines are straight and made of aluminium. They are attached to either end of a central rotating shaft. There are a number of rotors with their own unique dual braking system of pneumatic disc brakes and blade pitch. Windstar Turbines were designed for locations with stronger winds.
7. Vertical Axis Wind Turbines have many advantages as the running costs are low and they are easier to maintain. They can almost withstand any type of low or high wind. They are smaller which means they can be transported easier. The disadvantages are that producing efficient energy from winds takes twice as much time. The turbines have to be installed on flat land and some models require guide wires, which adds more stress to the bottom of the tower; and they have a low starting torque. A consumer has to look at a design that is suitable for them by deciding on the best one for their needs.

Benefits of a Home Heat Pump
There are many benefits to having a heat pump air conditioner installed.
A heat pump will provide you with energy efficient heat all through winter, and come summer will cool your home effectively.

Compare that to an electric heater that only generates 1kW of heat for every 1kW of power used.
There are a number of heat pump options available to you, dependent on whether you wish to air condition one room or your whole home.
To air condition a single room, a wall mounted heat pump is recommended. Wall mounted heat pumps can be installed high up (high wall), or low down by the floor like a conventional electric or gas heater. For two or three rooms, you can opt for a multi-split heat pump system. This means you have one outdoor unit connected to multiple indoor units. Alternatively, you can go for a ducted heat pump system. These can be installed hidden away inside your loft, or under your floor and are connected to outlet grilles around your home.
The correct sizing of a heat pump for a given room size is critical. Too small and it will struggle to heat or cool the room. Too large and it will constantly cycle on and off. Always consult the professionals for correct sizing.
Your local air conditioning and heat pump specialists will be able to correctly size the heat pump for your requirements. Most companies also provide a free, no obligation quotation. My advice as an air conditioning and refrigeration engineer is that you should phone around for a number of quotes. This ensures that you can verify the unit sizing from a number of engineers, plus you can also save a few hard earned dollars.
